What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
You've lost your Nissan keyfob or stopped functioning. Before you panic or call the dealer, look back to the last place you had it.
Fortunately, it's easy to change the battery in your Nissan key fob. It may be difficult initially but you'll soon get hang of it in no time.
Smart Keys Keys
The key fob that came with your Nissan is a vital element of the car's sophisticated keyless entry system. It connects to the vehicle's electronics to open doors and turn on the engine. It also comes with an easy-to-use design, making it easy to keep in your pocket. Key fobs also come with features that make life easier, like an alarm that can be locked out that ensures you don't leave your vehicle with keys inside.
Unlike previous models of key fobs which required you to place the key in an ignition slot to access the onboard systems in your vehicle, smart keys operate wirelessly. Nissan detects when you enter your vehicle and activates the Intelligent Key's internal functions. This could include opening and closing the doors, raising or lowering the tailgate, or even starting up the engine.
Some smart key models come with an invisible valet key made of metal. The key can be pulled from a release on the back of the Smart Key fob to secure the trunk or glove box before handing it over to a valet. The Smart Key fob also features an accessory pocket for charging that can be used to recharge the battery when it is not in use.
If your Nissan's Intelligent Key fob isn't working as it should, you may need to replace its batteries. Most fobs use CR2025 or CR2032 batteries. Instructions on how to replace the batteries can be found in your owner's manual.
Intelligent Key Fob
Nissan Intelligent Key Fobs permit you to open your car's doors and start the engine with the touch of a button. You can also select the various presets that will suit your preferences such as altering the mirrors or seat to ensure maximum comfort. You can also control the music on your smartphone so that you don't need to leave your car.
Intelligent Key Fob have a built-in antenna, which transmits a signal when you approach your vehicle or press one of its buttons. Once your vehicle is notified, it activates the system, unlocking doors or locking them, starting the engine, as well as opening the trunk. To test the fob out you must get away from your vehicle and click on the buttons. If the lights flash, or the horn sounds sound, you have successfully programmed the Intelligent Key Fob.

To do this, remove the hidden key from the key fob and then open the compartment for its battery. Replace the battery with a brand new one after taking out the old one. Assure that the positive side of the new battery faces in the same direction it did in the previous one. Close the battery compartment, and then put the key to its original place inside the case.
Remote Start
Nissan remote start is a feature that permits drivers to heat up or cool their car from outside the vehicle, provided they are within the operating range. The ignition of the car is activated when a driver presses an appropriate button on the key fob or smartphone app. The remote start system can also turn on the climate control to allow the driver to select their preferred temperature. Certain systems have two-way communication that allows the driver to see what's happening inside their vehicle.
If the remote start feature of your car isn't functioning, the most frequent reason is that the battery isn't working. The key fob is powered by a small battery that is replaceable. It can last for around two years. The battery can be replaced easily, but you will have to know where the hidden key is on the Intelligent Key Fob and how to access the battery compartment.
Flip your fob over, and press the latch on the backside of the keypad. Once the key pad is opened take out the battery and insert a fresh one, ensuring it is the same size and configuration of the existing battery. Be sure to install the key hidden in the case and put back the key fob in the correct way before closing the case. Lockout Protection
Lockout protection eliminates lockouts caused by impedance problems. A special module within the power control unit monitors impedance relay activity, and then disables the output. This option is only available to vehicles that have the Smart Key system or through the personalization menu of the vehicle.

Lock-out tag-out (LOTO) systems can help avoid these accidents by making sure that machines remain completely off until the authorized individual releases them.
The LOTO system is comprised of a variety of locks, tags and other devices to secure, isolate or shut off a machine from an electrical source. All "affected" and "authorized" personnel are required to be trained in the use of these lockout/tag-out devices. These devices include but not limited to locks, chains padlocks, wedges adapter pins and self-locking fasteners. Each device is uniquely identified and labeled with the date and the time of application and the name of the person who is authorized to use it, and the reason for the tag-out or lockout (repair or maintenance, for example). It should be clear that these devices can't be removed until a complete LOTO procedure has been carried out.
